Our History

His son, Dr. John H. Coppedge, Jr., developed an interest in optometry and graduated from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN in 1969. Father and son wanted to go into practice together, but they didn’t know if the population of the county at the time could support two optometrists. The Mackle Brothers created Spring Hill, which flourished in the western part of Hernando county, at about that same time. The decision was made that father and son would become partners in optometric practice.

The practice grew based on their dedication to one-on-one relationships with their patients, providing top quality products and care, and just treating patients like family. The staff continued to grow and the practice continued to thrive. Dr. John H. Coppedge, Sr. sadly passed away in 1981.

The practice expanded additionally in 2010, adding Dr. James Revennaugh to the optometric staff. Dr. Revennaugh graduated from Hernando High School in 2000 and continued his education at the University of South Florida He then graduated. from Nova Southeastern University School of Optometry before returning to Brooksville to begin practicing optometry.

Our office has always had a philosophy of caring for our patients as individuals with individual needs. We want to provide our patients with the best of care. With that philosophy in mind, Coppedge Eyecare is a proud member of Vision Source. Vision Source was founded in 1991 with the belief that a doctor should make his own decisions about what is best for the continued good health and optimal vision of his patient. As a member of Vision Source since 2010, we have access to the shared knowledge and resources of a network of optometric members with more than 2,000 offices.

Because of the size and prestige of the Vision Source network, manufacturers of optometric diagnostic technology often look to our Vision Source members first when introducing new equipment or procedures. As a result, Vision Source offices are among the first to employ advanced technology to ensure optimal eye health examinations, detection of sight-threatening conditions, more accurate prescriptions, and faster service for our patients.
